Salut Don, I am an elderly Swiss lady - my mother tongue is a Swiss German dialect. I am not well versed with modern digital technics , I am not on social medias and I have also no idea what your abbreviations mean 😂
I am joining this blog (if it is a blog) for the first time, just for fun, and because I wanted to try if my English audible account would work - 🤔⁉️
Thank you for your notes. "IRW" is "In the Real World" and "IM" is "Instant Message." You can receive either a US or UK code. I will reach out in email.
Like Lois, I'm not on social media but follow via email. I'd love an Audible code (U.S.) for "A Father's Lament and am happy to send my email any way that would be convenient.
As detailed in your post, I love the treatment you gave the characters in the Wardrobe series. So many JAFF stories keep Austen's choice to leave everyone except D&E in caricature. What I love is how real you make them, even in this historical fantasy/time travel world. They think, feel, and react like actual people do to the trials, tribulations, and joys of human life. So excited to listen to the audiobook!
You hit the heart of why I started writing the Wardrobe books...I was angry at Austen for leaving such potentially interesting people “on the table.” The Wardrobe was originally going to be a Mary book, a Kitty book, and a Lydia book. Then, the universe reached out and made me see the linkage between the three and their entire family. I needed to understand why each was shaped as she was. Then the relationship between the Bennets needed examining. Then, the “Why” of everything required examination. Suddenly, there were eight books plus the most recent addition—A Bennet Wardrobe Christmas Miracle—which had one more family dinner. As I wrote in the novella’s preface, the book slots in after Avenger, but because it is set in 1919, Lady Kate and Earl Henry host the sisters from the previous time frames.
I'd love the Audible code (U.S.) for "A Father's Lament." Your post asks for "a note IRW," but I have no clue what that means - "in the real world," ? ! I'm not on Facebook, but I subscribe to your Substack. My subscriber email includes my display name here, if that helps you to find it. Or if replying via email to the email I received with this post works, I can do that.
I do love the new covers you did for this series. I noticed on Audible that it has not transferred the new cover for The Grail. I also sent you a BF IM ;)
I have 'met' you online as you host WIP for the JAFF fb group, and always enjoy your wit. Those meetings are how I was introduced to your Wardrobe series, and yes, I would like the Amazon Audible code for your gift, thank you.
I comment on the blogs infrequently because I 'volunteer' as an editor and beta reader for a few authors, while they in turn are encouraging my writing efforts.
Re: your talent. I love history and English, thus the indepth application of both by a diligent and creative writer is always a joy to explore.
Hi... Although I supplied the audible covers for Grail, Plain Sight, and Quarantine, my former publisher chose not to change them. Thank you for noticing.
Hi...Thank you so much for your words of praise (kudoes always welcome). Is there a chance you are one of my Facebook friends? If so, could you send me an IM? Which volume of the Wardrobe (1-7?)? I will dig around for your email, but there are 965 subscribers...all organized by email not name.
