I have used flogging before (see In Plain Sight) as an example of the ultimate imposition of coercive power. I felt both of these actors could fit the mold of powerful men of the 2020s.
I can easily see Sean Bean but had to think about Tom Hardy for a few minutes, went and looked at some more of his photos and yes I could see him filling the role.
I had to cast for 2023. I was casting against type for Sean Bean--his most recent performances in large films have him dead by the second act. However, his Richard Sharpe was definitive for me. As for Hardy--he hit me as a compelling mix of Firth and Macfadyn and someone who could act a proud and confident man thrown int a completly unfamiliar environment, and one being forced to set aside his self-image.
Loved this book and already gave it 5 stars and a review on Amazon after reading it on KU. Now I will buy it to keep and re-read. Just wonderful!
Thank you so much!
I will try to buy this one as soon as I'm able, so far is really engaging
I think you will find it an interesting read. Available on KU as well as in paper.
You picked well for those characters! Flogging sounds awful! I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it! I did like the excerpt though.

I hope I capture your vision for them well. I wish I had known you were thinking Sean Bean and Tom Hardy! Cest la vie. Still a pleasure to voice.
Just came up with them this mornng. Not casting the movie yet!
Probably a 5'7" balding slightly overweight 44 year old doesn't stand a chance at getting cast. Which is why I love and do Audio. :D
You know, folks used to tell be I had a face made for Radio!
Oh, yeah. Garrison Keillor got that a lot too.
He really does look odd though.
